Changing Africa With Golf Balls…

By TZ  Business News Staff.

Africa  is changing so fast and so much there are places you go and you are not sure you are still on the same continent.

The South African journalist Jacques Pauw described the period 1985 to somewhere around 1990 as the period his nation was “one of the worst countries in the world in which to be a policeman.”  The government  was shooting people, chopping their heads off and burning them to destroy evidence, and all of that was done using government funded criminals operating under a super secret police squad. .Well, those days are gone.

South Africans are now focused on issues completely different. Those issues include golf, so that there is now a golf course in South Africa, with nothing like it anywhere on earth.

.The Extreme 19th hole at the Legends Golf Course in South Africa is considered by many to be the most stunning and challenging Par-3 golf hole in the world, according to one commentator. The tee box is perched on the edge of a cliff, the green is in the shape of Africa set 400 metres below.

.Truly a daunting prospect, 3-time major champion Padraig Harrington is one of only a select few who have managed to par this breathtaking hole.  Watch the video:

And by the way,  golf is being developed in Tanzania as well, in the meantime.  A number of golf courses are being maintained here.  Click the following link for details:  http://www.worldgolf.com/courses/tanzania/
