TANZANIA MUSLIMS CONDEMN DESTRUCTION OF GAZA AND KILLING OF INNOCENT PEOPLE IN PALESTINE

The National Muslim Council of Tanzania (BAKWATA) has  strongly condemned the brutal killings of innocent Palestinians in Gaza by the Israeli army, describing the Israeli army as “tryrants”.

A BAKWATA statement  issued on Thursday, May 20, 2021, signed by Supreme Leader of  Tanzania Muslims, Sheikh Abubakar Zubeir bin Ally, says the killing of innocent Palestinians by Israeli armed forces  in the on-going war between Israelis and Palestinians is against all tenets of human rights.

“The actions also contradict foundations of  major world religions which include our own religion of Islam,” the statement reads in part.

The  on-going war between Israelis and Palestians was sparked by Israeli police invading Palestinians in a mosque praying at the close of the Islamic holy month of prayer (Ramadhan). The Palestinian military group HAMAS fired missiles into Israel to protest the invasion and desecration of Al Aqsa mosque.

The fighting was  also linked to a pending forced eviction of Palestinians from east Jerusalem.

Israel bombing of Gaza city on Gaza strip

The Israeli air force responded with bombs that flattened buildings large and small—including a skyscraper used by media houses. At the time of publishing this post the fighting had reportedly left at least 227 people killed in Gaza and 12 people killed in Israel.

BAKWATA has called on the international community to “take steps to stop this unacceptable tyranny”.

The Muslim Council has also asked Muslims in Tanzania to say a special prayer (Dua)  for Palestinians on Friday, and to continue saying special prayers (Kunuti) during their daily five prayers  asking God to protect the State of Palestine. The Statement concludes: “Mighty God we ask you to make the world see invalidity [in the tyranny] and to invalidate it; and for you to show us justice which we should follow and defend”.
