Those trained in the profession of business will probably  remember  all good  businesses seek to solve other people’s problems first, then to profit later. A young Tanzanian entrepreneur has noted an acute problem in Tanzania and has set out to find a solution with the hope to make a profit in the long run

Thirty-nine year old  Fasili Boniphace says Tanzanian colleges and universities produce over 800,000 graduates each year,  in a country which does not produce sufficient employment opportunities. The competition for employment is therefore very stiff.  Fasili Boniphace has authored a book he believes provides a solution to this problem for those who will read it. He hopes to profit from solving other people’s problems in that way, he said.

The Paperback JOB SEARCH SECRETS, A Practical Guide for Job Seekers and Startup Young Entrepreneurs In Tanzania will be out in the Tanzanian market anytime this January, 2015.  The book contains 13 chapters  which carry varying subjects on job seeking, job keeping, entrepreneurship and issues of personal branding to make it easy for a graduate to be chosen to employment or go for self-employment.

The  book tackles one especially tricky question most schools, colleges and university graduates ask themselves: where will I get a job after school?

Boniphace has a university degree in education. But he also has extensive education in business and entrepreneurship. This combination has brought to life a book many will find useful. One portion reads as follows:

“I introduced you [in] the previous section [to] some key questions to reflect on when thinking of what you might do after school.   I would now like to invite you to this part of the book to reflect further on this question: Where will you get a job after school?

“Experience shows that very few college graduates and school leavers could provide a direct answer to this question right away. I have interviewed more than 300 young job seekers and graduates in Tanzania on the same question since 2003.

“Most of them could not give a straight forward answer because they were afraid and uncertain of their future employment. They were not sure where to get employed after school and /or how to embark on seeking employment they want the most….

“Experts in career services argue that a successful job search strategy has four steps: first, it begins with self assessment. This is the time when one needs to know his/her potential skills, abilities and also what one wants. Second, exploration of what is in the commercial world in terms of serious industries, sectors and occupations. Third, focusing on specific industries and companies that appeal to a job seeker. Fourth, making a job search action plan which involves the sending out of Curriculum Vitae, attending interviews and negotiating job offers.

“Looking for a job needs to be planned just like any other business in life. You need to plan about your future employment. In the business world, for example, successful businessmen and women plan in advance on how they will build their business for a good profit. An intelligent business person starts with consolidating his/her ideas into a business plan which would assist in  justifying his/her  decisions”

The author told me his book JOB SEARCH SECRETS has a lot of advice many graduates will find useful. The book will be sold and not given out for free. So there is a possibility Boniphace will benefit, too, from this provision of a solution to graduates.

The author’s profile reveals a young man whose talent has been noticed outside the country before we could see his talents here at home.

“I was last year awarded a prestigious international award as a “Young Visionary Entrepreneur” by the initiative Indiafrica, being one among seven young entrepreneurs to be recognized and profiled at that level. This was in India, where I met African Diplomats and made a brief speech about Tanzania small and medium enterprises development,” he said.

“I was recognized as driver for youth entrepreneurship in Tanzania,” he explained, “which has  to do with supporting young entrepreneurs start their own business.”
